ivatos first came to Gari in the early '90's as a simpler, contemporary gateway or path to doing a spiritual reading.
ivatos seemed to be a perfect tool to present a snapshot of "the now" of your energy. In this case "energy" is a word to represent the unseen ripples we make with our life force. Chakras, emotions, thoughts, health or disease, all are unique in the moment. ivatos responds by showing these unseen vibrations, like a mirror.
Tossing the signs on the map creates a pattern that somehow, not so easily understood, mirrors or mimics the vibration of you, the seeker in that moment. A reading is interpreted by looking at the pattern as a whole but also reading the information in the book, sign by sign or sector by sector. The map is sectioned off and each sign in each section has been interpreted for you in the book. So simple to do.
Similar to other tools such as tarot, runes, and I Ching, ivatos joins the ranks rather than being different, finding its truth among other time tested methods.
Gari Gold Richardson, is author and sculptor of ivatos. Gari is a willing tool of the ivatos energy she thinks of as originating from her heart. Rather than defining a source of this information, Gari thinks of the project as the outcome of the powerful words, "Ask and you shall receive".
Gari has been involved in multiple art forms "forever", and acknowledges her need for diversity in her life and work. The benefits of diverse artistic forms outweighs the limitations, she believes. Understanding dance as a dancer does was specifically informative to her figurative sculpture work. Her and first sculpture show titled "Motion, the fifth element" was the result.
Granddaughter of a diamond cutter, Gari was attracted to jewelry fabrication and studied with pioneer Robert Kulicke. ivatos, it seems to dip into the vast history of early metal fabrication and adornment. A result of study and practice with crystals and other subtle healing modes.
ivatos cards are in the works and jewelry will be posted for fun and for sale on this site, soon.
